3 Fun Fall Leaf Wreathsby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 18 Sep 2007 10:51 AM
In a take off of that kit, another idea is to make your own wreath using real leaves. You'll need a poster board wreath shape or a wreath shape that you cut yourself out of cardboard. Gather up an armful of real fall leaves. You can hot glue them onto your wreath shape as is (they should hold their color for a few weeks) or treat them first by dipping or painting the leaves in glycerin and allowing them to dry. This should preserve the color for years to come. It will give the leaves a bright and slightly glossy look. A third idea for the Fall Wreath is to make your own leaves from paper. Start with the same type of wreath form. This can give you many different effects, from a child's wreath made of construction paper leaves, to an ethereal wreath using tissue paper or even silk leaves. Or, create something similar to the first idea with the kit, by making your leaves out of card stock and embossing them with an embossing tool (sold with scrap booking supplies). There are so many different possibilities when you make your own leaves. With any of these wreaths, you can really polish the project by including other materials on your wreath, such as a bright ribbon, fake spiders for Halloween, etc. I hope you have enjoyed these ideas!
