A Colored Chalkboard Paint Wall

Here is a fun idea for a child's room, a home school room or even a family room or kitchen. You turn create a wall, a door or a piece of furniture into a chalkboard. And unlike the traditional black chalkboard wall, you can do this with a color. Using a colored chalkboard wall is creative, fun and won't change your color scheme. In fact, you won't be able to tell the difference between a "normal" wall and your chalkboard wall, until you start writing on it! Kids will be delighted that they are being allowed to doodle, draw and write on a real wall.

To create your colored chalkboard wall, you'll need the following items:

Paint in your choice of color. Any indoor paint will do, as long as it has a satin finish.

White unsanded tile grout

A paint stick to stir the paint

A brush to apply the paint

Painters tape to section off a wall or area for your chalkboard.

To make your custom colored chalkboard paint, first open and stir your colored satin paint with the paint stick. Next, mix up the paint with the unsanded tile grout. The formula for the mix is one cup of paint to two tablespoons of the unsanded tile grout. Mix as much as you will need for your project. If the paint becomes too thick, making it difficult to apply, add water one tablespoon at a time and remix the paint.

Apply your custom colored chalkboard paint to your wall, door or other project. Allow the paint to dry. Paint a second coat of the paint as needed.

To clean the chalk from the wall once it is in use, just use a chalkboard eraser or damp sponge.

Try using more than one color to create a fun pattern, a mural, a favorite character and more. A cute idea is to create an array of colored "crayons" on the wall, all in different colors.
