Between Holiday Catch Up

2009 The holidays certainly are a whirlwind of activity aren't they? From cooking to cleaning to shopping and visiting, there is always so much to do. Before Christmas, I tried to anticipate this by having the laundry caught up and the house cleaned. But I still found myself baking cookies on Christmas eve afternoon and cleaning the bathrooms.

Now, Christmas Day is gone, but New Year's Eve and New Years Day are coming up. This means that I have a lot of catch up to do. Despite my initial efforts, the laundry has turned into a mountain, the ironing is slouching off of the ironing board, and for some strange reason, the house needs another good cleaning. And I know I am not the only one experiencing this. I called a good friend today and interrupted her while she was scrubbing her shower floor. She also mentioned overflowing laundry after having everything all done before Christmas. "We does it all come from?" she asked. "Christmas elves," I suggested. "They come in the middle of the night, wear our clothes and dump them in the hampers."

We have other friends with kids coming over this afternoon, to make treats for our backyard birds. I had nearly forgotten, my mind turned to all of the catching up that I have to do. We will be coating pine cones with peanut butter and seeds and then hanging them on the tree. I already warned the mom that my house is in a sorry shape.

This morning, I did tackle some of that ironing and cleaned one bathroom, but I'll have to vacuum double time before the friends arrive. And of course, there are the other things required in running a house, such as getting dinner prepared. Today I plan on making two large pot pies, one to eat and one to freeze. That requires quite a bit of dicing and chopping.

How is your home today? Do you need to do any between holiday catch up?

Oh dear, my house has dust bunnies, that weren't there last week. The kids and I cleaned the house from top to bottom right before Christmas. Play-doh is still mashed into the living room carpet but who cares my 3 year old is enjoying her favorite toy. lol Laundry has some what been tamed today and I did clean the bathroom a little bit. I figure after the New Year I'll do another good cleaning.

The friends that came over left huge mud prints all over the new carpet. Guess what I did last night when they left? Sigh.

Oh, what a bummer! I have a rug shampooer if you need to borrow it. Happy scrubbing! Laura

Thanks! I attacked the stains literally as they were walking out the door, so it looks like I got it all up. I'm afraid to turn on all of the lights LOL.
