Follow Up On Our Flat Screen TV Saga

Earlier this month I wrote about the problems we were having with flat screen televisions. As I had mentioned, were we unhappy as these TV were breaking and in need of repair long before any of the old standard TV's did.

I remember being able to buy a TV knowing it would last for a decade or more. In recent years, you knew they would at run for at least 305 years, but the new Flat screen TV's are incredibly disappointing with many of them needing repair or replacement in a matter of month.

ABC's Extreme Makeover television show is popular with viewers because it can really change people's lives. The show works with local volunteers to rebuild homes for deserving families and even raise money to give them a way to maintain those homes.

I'm not sure this article goes under the heading "electronic entertainment." Even though walkie-talkies can be quite entertaining, especially for young children, they also have a greater purpose. They help people communicate.

I know TiVo's been around for a while now, but Wayne and I aren't always the most up-to-date techy users. In fact, we're usually well behind most trends. It was only three years ago we got cell phones and only because he had to for his job.

Does satellite television live up to the hype? For some, the answer is an emphatic yes. My family was thrilled when we first obtained a satellite and over 100 channels to choose from, especially since we had only been able to receive one station with fuzzy reception up until that time.

Is there anything we won't buy our kids for Christmas? There are some things I refuse to buy, and you can probably guess the main one since so much craziness has occurred to keep this item in the news. Play Station 3 You guessed it. I won't be purchasing a Playstation3 now or anytime soon.

It's Sunday, which means the newspaper is filled with the latest ads for "Fall Savings" and "Anniversary Blow-Outs." Our local department store is having a "Mega-Clearance Sale" on electronics. The cover of the sales flyer features a home theater-in-a-box product for $300.

My husband and I registered for and received many wonderful wedding gifts. That's why when we moved into our first home together shortly after we returned from our honeymoon I didn't feel comfortable accepting housewarming gifts.
