Blog Find-Buy Modern Baby

I’d like to start looking for some great baby blogs for you. There are a lot of them out there! But, wouldn’t it be great to have someone else do all the work and find a blog that can help you along with a new baby? Time is precious, right? I think so. The world today is full of Mommy bloggers that are showing off their Mom skills both in how they decorate the nursery, to how they parent. I love them. Of course, being a blogger myself, I’m a little addicted to blogs. I found one the other day … Continue reading

Nursery Ideas

It all began one warm summer day as I was washing sheets from the three beds in our home; our queen, the guest/our son’s full, and the crib. I started thinking about ways to make the kid’s bedroom work for both our son and our unborn daughter. Around the time that my husband and I were planning our wedding, I read an article about using white bed linens and towels not only for ease of washing but also for simplicity and cohesion. Needless to say, I did not purchase white bed linens or towels. With multiple moves and rearrangement of … Continue reading

Nursery Design: Think Outside the Box

Are you the type of person that squirms at the thought of filling your baby’s nursery with cliché decorations? Does pale pink and powder blue make you want to scream and run away? If so, you’ve probably grown fed up with the selection at your local baby store when it comes to bedding and décor. Lots of people love themed nurseries, but that doesn’t mean you have to. There’s nothing wrong with decorating your nursery with classic memes like Winnie the Pooh or pink and purple flowers, but there are plenty of alternatives if that is not your style. If … Continue reading

Most Important for the Nursery

One of the most important decisions you will need to make when planning a nursery is the type of cot. There are many kinds on the market in many different finishes from paint to stained wood to natural pine. A good idea is buying a cot that can be adapted as the child grows. For example when our daughter was young we bought a pine cot that also had a change table and drawers attached. The deep drawers were a good place to store diapers and other things baby needed when being changed. Later it could be adapted into a … Continue reading

Decorating a Nursery

Decorating a nursery can be a lot of fun. Okay, I know it’s been a long while since I did it, but I still remember the fun of getting a nursery ready for a coming baby. One of the first things these days might be whether you know the gender of the baby, as many people choose to find out beforehand. This could determine the color scheme you choose. This was one I never had to worry about. I just found out when the baby was born. If you don’t know, then you might want to stick with colors not … Continue reading

Nursery Design Idea: 3D Wall Art

One of the favorite projects I worked on for my son’s nursery was a 3D plush turtle for the wall. It’s easy to make and looks amazing on the nursery wall. Design: To get started, pick a simple design. I picked a turtle because it went with our nursery theme and it consists of multiple rectangles and a few rounded shapes that are simple to piece together. You could also arrange geometric shapes, slightly spaced apart, or do another simple design such as a flower. Sketch out the design on a sheet a paper and plan the dimensions. Remember to … Continue reading

Planning a Nursery

One of the most exciting parts of my pregnancy was planning my son’s nursery. I could not wait for my 18 week ultrasound so I could find out the sex of our baby. Even before the ultrasound, I had begun planning color schemes and themes for both boys and girls. I found myself hoping for a girl simply because I preferred the brown and pink modern theme I had picked out. Once we got the news, I forgot all about my pink and brown nursery, and started pouring over ideas for a little boy’s room. It wasn’t long before I … Continue reading
