Decorating for Halloween

Do you get into Halloween? Do you decorate inside and out in anticipation of the holiday? If so, you might like some of these ideas for dressing up the interior and adding some spooky style, especially if you're planning a party.

Window Treatments

This time of year, you should be able to find great fabrics with Halloween in mind. Check the discount table and look for sheer black fabric, or spider web lace. Create a window scarf by draping the fabric from small mug hooks, which can be used temporarily and removed when no longer needed. Another idea is take an old pair of curtains and tea stain them then shred and tatter the ends. Randomly glue plastic insects all over them.

Tables

Cover your kitchen table with an inexpensive vinyl tablecloth in bright orange and making homemade placemats. All you need is solid colored vinyl placemats, or even poster board, holiday napkins, and clear contact paper. Cut the images you want to use, glue them on the mat or poster board with glue stick, and carefully cover with clear contact paper to laminate. As an alternative, choose tablecloths in Halloween prints and add black or orange placemats. In the center, add a brightly colored plastic bowl with plastic spiders glued around the rim.

Cute Kid's Pillows

Bunch up some fabric or fiberfill and stuff it into one end of a white pillowcase. Tie it off with string. Draw eyes and mouth with black marker or paint pens. Cut off the open end of the pillowcase and create a rough edge. Position on a child's chair or even on your sofa.

Other Touches

You can find faux spider web materials, or you can simply spread some fiber fill around. Stretch it between corners and hold in place with Sticky Tack.
