Don't Forget the Troops During the Holidays

As we're shopping, wrapping presents, and shipping gifts off to distant friends and relatives, we should also consider sending something to our troops. Unfortunately, there are members of our military that don't receive much from home. Even the smallest gift from the states means a lot to those who are far from home.

There are several ways to send gift items, and even if you don't have friends or family in the military, you can "adopt" a soldier to send things for. It is a great way to say thanks and to let our troops know that we care.

You won't likely be able to correspond with the soldier for safety reasons, but you'll still know that you touched his or her heart and made the holidays a little nicer for someone. Make it a family event.

There are companies that offer such services and will choose a soldier or a unit for you to send gifts to if you don't know a soldier. You can purchase, package, and ship your own items, but it can be difficult because the process has to be completed precisely.

Remember soldiers troops for ChristmasSome companies offer ready to send gift packages or allow you to choose items to have placed into a gift package, and they deal with the shipping and handling. It's a little easier this way, and you'll know that the package arrived safely and was not turned away due to containing disallowed goods or not being packaged or addressed properly.

If you would like to send something to a soldier, it is wise to do so soon to ensure that it will arrive in time for Christmas. You can find more information or place an order at these sites:

America Supports You (this is an official Department of Defense website)

Any Soldier (this is a well known and reputable program)

Treats for Troops (this one has been reviewed and praised on the news)
