Dressing A Daughter’s Room 5

When we last left off, I was talking about the great fabrics that I poked through at an Amish-owned fabric shop in Lancaster, Pa. I was looking for the perfect fabric for my little girl’s room. I wanted something that was current, fresh, fun and would grow with my daughter as she did. To remind you, the fabric choices were: a delicate variegated pink rose pattern, pink outlined flowers on a white background and its opposite white outlines flowers on a pink background, a thin candy strip with two different pink stripes and a white stripe, and an an oddball, … Continue reading

First Fourth of July Part II

This is something that I have observed about my daughter: she is very interested in every aspect of her five senses. When it comes to smelling things, she is anxious to get a good pondering whiff of the wonderful smells around her. The array of fourth of July fare was not any different and she even insisted on being held during our meal without wanting to nurse (which never happens). She watched everyone at the table taking bites of foods with this look of anticipation on her face. Needless to say she was very excited about the food even though … Continue reading

A Preschooler’s Sense of Style

My daughter can be very amusing, as all daughters and sons can be sometimes. She’s especially funny when she tries out new words. Her current interest in words appears to be fashion. Overheard the other day, while my daughter played with the pet rats, “Sorrel, you are looking very attractive today. Parsley, you haven’t been grooming much, have you?” Lately, I’ve been told that I look ridiculous and that I look stylish. We’re trying out the words and the fashion sense around here, I see. Preschoolers definitely have a distinctive sense of style. I blame my daughter’s fashion sense on … Continue reading

Our Field Trip

My two youngest children, a three-year-old and a two-year-old are happily napping right now, after a fun time on a field trip. I love field trips for little ones. It lets them explore different things as well as socialize. This field trip was sort of spontaneous. We went to a local botanical garden to which we own a membership, and we invited some friends along. There were three moms and a total of four kids, all in the two- to three-year-old range. Our first stop was to explore an elaborate cathedral-like tree house. The kids had fun running up and … Continue reading

Home Week in Review: July 14 – 20

Another week has gone by and here is our review: Ironing: The Chore we love to hate I guess I don’t really hate it (although my recent bought with ironing did inspire the title) but let’s just say, it’s not my favorite thing to do. In my case, it may be that I’m just not that great at doing it. I tend to burn myself and my clothes and those stubborn wrinkles seem to get the best of me. Wash and wear works for me. However, there are some products and some tips that will help make ironing a little … Continue reading
