Dressing A Daughter's Room 5by Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 15 Jul 2008 01:11 PM
I spoke with the woman minding the store and asked for samples. We had a tiny bit of trouble understanding each other. I speak too softly to be heard sometimes and she had a thick Amish Pennsylvania Dutch accent. Still, I collected my samples and brought them home to see which fabric might work the best. I had my favorite and was sure I would go with that one. My husband and our daughter also took a look at the samples. We held them up against the white trim of the windows and the doors, and we also looked at them against both colors in the room. The softer pink on most of the walls and the darker rose pink on the accent wall. We deliberated over and over. Our toddler played with the discarded samples and tied them into knots as we narrowed it down to two. Finally, we made our decision and went with the candy stripe fabric! This is not a fabric I would have chosen normally, but it really seemed to pull the room together, and it was my daughter's favorite, even over the sparkly dragonflies. The next step was to get that fabric made into curtains, so back to Lancaster we went. Hey, that meant that there was another opportunity for Amish food and kettle corn.
