Dryer Envy: How to Tell If You Need a New Dryerby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 04 Mar 2009 12:24 PM
But the reality is that our current dryer, which was given to us almost nine years ago is perfectly functional and suitable. Yes, we have to load it ourself, but hey that is what kids are for right? I just can't justify a new one. If you can, or just want some reasons to rationalize, take a look at the following signs of how to tell if you need a new dryer. Clothes take a very long time to dry. While it may seem that any dryer takes too long, if you are having to wait hours and hours for a cycle, then it might be time to replace your existing dryer. You'll probably notice towels and jeans taking too long before you notice other types of laundry. Clothes are hotter than usual when the cycle ends. If you are burning yourself on your clothes, then watch out. Not only are you wasting energy and possibly damaging your laundry, but you may also be at risk for a dyer fire. The flapper on the vent hood no longer comes open while the dryer is running. It may be stuck or simply not have enough air flow to push it open.
