Easy Christmas Decorations for Kid's Rooms

Here are some simple ideas you can use or expand upon to decorate your children's rooms for the holidays:

Christmas Trees

Most kid's rooms don't allow for a full size Christmas tree, but miniature ones work great. Add a little bit of shredded white tissue paper beneath it to look like snow. Place on a mirrored tray and add tiny lights for extra sparkle. Makes a great holiday replacement for a night light.

Teddy Treasures

Use your children's stuffed animals, such as Teddy Bears or other favorites, to create cute displays. Sit a large Teddy Bear on top of a dresser, give him a scarf, cap, and mittens (baby size will usually work or you can make some from felt) and wrap a box to look like a gift. Place it so it looks like Teddy is holding the present. Wrap smaller boxes and surround Teddy with the tiny "gifts."

Hang it up

Use extra ornament hooks to hang small toys from a curtain rod. You can use Matchbox Cars, miniature dolls, or other tiny toys (or non-glass ornaments) to do this. Another idea is to string a ribbon from one end of the curtain rod to the other. Then, punch holes in Christmas cards and string ribbon through the holes. *Hang the cards from the long ribbon by tying bows.

*You can also do this with children's holiday artwork instead of Christmas cards.

Let it Snow

A can of spray snow and some star or snowflake stencils will help you instantly add some wintry accents to windows or mirrors. Pick up stencils at the store or cut out your own patterns. If you don't care for spray snow or you think your kids are too small, you can use window clings instead.

*I also usually also give my kids a collection of decorations that I don't plan to use and let them pick and choose from those to make up their own displays in their rooms.
