Easy Ways with Artworkby Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger 21 Aug 2007 12:44 PM A simple way to add interesting details to a space is adding a piece of artwork. Whether you choose a painting, a poster, a print, or a portrait, is up to you. You can also choose a vase, an urn, a sculpture, or a statue. Maybe, you prefer something abstract, something that you don't even know how to describe, but the piece is interesting. Go for it! Finding new ways to use interesting items is a great way to add not only texture and interest but also personality to your home decorating. Architectural elements and even exterior pieces often look cool inside the home. Anything that creates a unique rather than a typical look is a good idea, so use your imagination. Adding artwork to a space also makes it feel more finished. Even if you cannot afford the artwork you'd really like to have, or just aren't sure what would look best, you can add something temporarily to give the space some sparkle. Create your own pop art by simply projecting any image onto an already stretched canvas. Trace the projection and fill in the lines with paint. Add a fabric border or a cool frame. Make a set of pieces if you have a large area that needs artwork. Changing artwork during different seasons also helps keep your space looking fresh and interesting. A print that features a field of daisies is fine during spring or summer but not so much during autumn and winter months. Artwork doesn't have to specifically represent each of the four seasons, but something that hints at the season or general time of year works. There are lots of great places online to shop for artwork as well, and right now you can enter the Art.com sweepstakes for a chance to win $2000 worth of artwork just in time to start your fall decorating. The deadline to enter is September 30, 2007 (no purchase required to enter). Good luck! Learn more about Sherry Holetzky Sherry Holetzky is a work at home mom and freelance writer.
