Fighting Pet Stains with Pee-Pee

I am the owner of two adorable Miniature Schnauzers with poor home training. I guess it's my fault for not doing a better job, but technically the dogs belong to my son and husband, so I can say it's their fault!

Anyway I came home from vacation to a couple of horrible stains. It seems the dogs got out of the kennel when the pet sitter was not here and make a horrible mess in the dining room. Yes, they had a bad bowel movement in the dining room. They also marked a few of my dining chairs leaving some lovely yellow stains. What a disaster! If I could burn the one room and start over, I would.

The pet sitter tried several things on the stain to no avail. It just seems that the stain was rubbed into the carpet. It seemed hopeless.

First I tried shout laundry detergent and some scrubbing as it works on most carpet stains. The problem is that the stain had set for over a week and would not budge. Shout needs to be used for fresh stains so I had no luck.

Next I tried my old faithful S-32 spot.stain remover. This is what I use of laundry ink and grease stains. I also used it when an ink pen exploded on my brand new ultra suede couch (along with rubbing alcohol). I had had success with pet stains in the past, so I tried it. There was no change at all.

So I went to the supermarket to the house cleaning department and picked up Spot Shot. I have used this for numerous carpet stains in the past, such as coca cola and the bottle said "new and improved" and "Removes even tough old stains", so I hoped that this would do the trick. It also promises to remove odors so I brought it home and tried it out. It cleaned the legs of my chairs but I was ready to dial a carpet store to come out with samples.

I had planned to replace the carpet with hardwood floors, but being forced to make an early purchase would mean carpet and not wood as I don't have the money saved yet. Before I had a chance to buy new carpet, I noticed a bottle of a product call Pee-pee in the pet food aisle. I figured I'd make one last ditch effort to clean the carpet.

I got home and saturated the stain according to the bottle instruction and the stain disappeared. No kidding. It's gone. I spent the rest of the afternoon crawling on my hands and knees looking for signs of pet stains. I cleaned the entire dining room carpet and plan to go back to get another bottle to do the rest of the house and to keep for emergencies. I still need to steam clean the carpets (for my sanitary sensibilities), but I think I can keep the carpet a bit longer until I am ready to put in my hardwood floors.

If you have pet stains like the one that greeted me when I got home I high recommend Pee-Pee Super Stain & Odor Remover. You can use the other products I suggested in the article in a pinch, but this one wins the pet stain wars hands down!
