Finding Time for Yard Workby Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger 09 Jul 2008 12:12 PM Who is not busy these days? We all seem to spend more and more time working just to make ends meet. So, after putting in more hours at work than you plan, where do you squeeze in some time (and energy!) for yard work? It is not always easy. Instead of trying to do it all at once, you may have to settle for a work in progress. Even a few minutes here and there will make a difference. Instead of blowing it off altogether or continuing to say, "I will do it next week," just start attacking small areas at a time. First, make sure any stray trash is picked up. Trash is the worst offender when it comes to the way your yard looks. You have no control over neighborhood people or animals scattering trash, sloppy garbage men, or windblown trash finding its way into your yard, but it certainly detracts from the appearance of your yard. That is why it is first on the list. Next, gather any toys or equipment. Find a good space or container and make sure that such items are returned daily to the appropriated space. Rake leaves, twigs, and other debris. Cut grass, edge, trim, cut or pull weeds, and clean outdoor items such as decks, patios, and outdoor furniture. If you are short on time or energy, you may not get it all done at once. That is okay. Just get started and soon you will find that each day's effort is paying off. What about those projects? Maybe you have been considering installing some solar outdoor lighting. There are some very simple options available. Check your local home improvement store. Some take mere minutes to install and you will be pleased with the results. Try setting aside just ten to fifteen minutes a day, or even just a couple of days a week, and see what a difference it makes. Time for today's ten minutes... so I will see you later. One, it gets the digestive juices flowing and me away from the kitchen. But better than that, it is generally cooler outside at that time. I do not try to do everything in one evening, but rather space them out over the week. Sherry Holetzky (11404) 13 Jul 2008 08:21 PMGreat advice, Penny. Thanks for sharing! :) Discuss this article
