Fourth of July Centerpieces

Do you like centerpieces? I hope you'll like these Independence Day ideas:

Light up the Night

Or, light up the day with red, white, and blue candles. Create a design, using one large blue candle and surrounding it with smaller red and white candles, or line up one red, one white, and one blue. If you prefer something less symetrical, simply add a mixture of candles in different sizes and shapes in red, white, and blue, and carefully fill the spaces between the bases of the candles with curling ribbon in patriotic colors (making sure none of the ribbon reaches the tops of the candles if you plan to light them). If you don't want ribbon, pick up patriotic confetti or make your own from red and blue foil wrapping paper. Use a holepunch or look for a star shaped punch near scrapbooking supplies.

Fourth Inspired Flower Arrangement

Pick up a blue flowerpot or paint one blue. Purchase starters of red flowers. Add them to the flower pot along with some grasses or other greenery and some baby's breath or other white filler. Dot the arrangement here and there with miniature American flags. Add swirled strips of wired ribbon in patriotic colors poking out here and there if desired (or in place of the flags).

Flowerpot without the Flowers

Use a white flowerpot or paint one white (a coffee can will work too). Place floral foam inside and stick the posts from several small flags into the foam. You can use all one size and have them evenly spaced, or use varied sizes and have them facing out in all directions. Add moss or other filler to the pot to cover the foam. Tie a ribbon around the pot (optional) or add baby's breath or tiny white filler between flags is desired.
