Gardens Reveal so Much

It's always good to branch out into other areas. That's what I'm doing as I come to join you on the Home blog. Up till now, I've been writing for Marriage and Christian Family and I will still be doing that, but Michele thought I might like to contribute some ideas about home, so here I am. I'm planning on doing some articles about gardening.

Gardening? I hear you say, as anyone who knows me knows me or has been reading my other blogs, know I don't do gardening. But I do love gardens and do have a lot of input into what goes in the garden. I just don't do most of the work in it. Mick's the gardener of the family. But that doesn't mean I can't write about it, since we talk together and pool ideas all the time. As Michele commented, my blogging has become almost a family job, as I often go to Mick for ideas or he contributes various topics or useful information.

Gardens are as individual as people are. Just go out walking any time and you'll soon see what I mean. Some are filed with color and lots of annuals, other rely more on shrubs that require minimal attention, In Australia many gardeners have turned to Australian natives, especially helpful in drought as we are at present. Others like the idea of a cottage garden, while some people will go for order and formal layout. Each of these tells you something about the people who live in the house.

'Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are,' a Chinese Proverb says. I found this quote in a novel by Isabel Wolff called Forget Me Not.

So, as a way of telling you a bit about me; I love flowers and color. When we first moved into this house there were white roses growing in the front garden. One of the first things that happened was the white roses came out. As far as I'm concerned anything that flowers white is a weed. Gardens in my house are filled with color. Predominate colors are blue. (I adore blue flowers,) red, pink, and purple with some orange and yellow. Hop on over to Romance in the Garden if you want to see a part of my garden.

I'd love to hear about your gardens or things you'd like to see in this blog about gardens or any other topic as I won't always be talking about gardens. Between Andrea, Mary Ann and myself we should be able to cover most aspects of home.
