Grosgrain Ribbon Wreaths

Create your own personal touch with holiday wreaths that you make yourself. We have shared a few different ideas for making your own wreaths here in the Home blog. But I especially like this idea because it is a very fresh idea that can coordinate with anyone's decor. You can make wreaths with a traditional but modern flair or you can make wreaths that are completely unique. These wreaths are just so simple to make, you'll want to make several of them. They will give you a big impact in your holiday decorating.

And these wreaths are great for last minute decorating, when you don't have a lot of time. Pick up the materials after work or while you are doing your holiday shopping. and then put them together while watching holiday movies.

The basic premise of these wreaths is simple. You will be covering a wreath form with wrapped ribbon and then decorate it with buttons that you make yourself with more ribbon and button forms.

To make these wreaths, you will need the following:

A styrofoam wreath form

A roll of grossgrain ribbon in the color of your choice. Red, white and green are fine, but why not try purple, pink, blue, brown or other colors.

Scraps of grossgrain ribbon in assorted colors and patterns that contrast or coordinate with your main wreath color

Button forms

A hot glue gun

A pliers

Wrap the styrofoam form all of the way around with the main ribbon, overlapping it along the way about 1/8 inch. Using the hot glue, glue the end of the ribbon to the back of the wreath.

Using the pliers, remove the button hooks.

Cover the button forms with your contrasting and coordinating ribbon scraps. Make sure that the ribbon is about an inch wider than the button form. use varying sizes of button forms for added interest.

Glue the ribbon covered buttons to the wreath.
