Handy Home Hints and Tricksby Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger 17 May 2007 07:20 AM Simplify things with these easy tips: Mark the Spot If you're hosting a potluck or otherwise having guests who are bringing food along, ask them to mark their containers so you'll know who belongs to what. A simple return address label intended for mail is great for marking containers. Label makers also work great, so have one handy and apply a label to containers that haven't been marked as guests place their offerings in the kitchen. Friendships have been damaged by un-returned Tupperware! Use Protection Pick up some felt at any craft or fabric store. It's very affordable and easy to work with. Cut pieces to attach to the bottom of furniture pieces to avoid scratching floors. It's also perfect for applying to the bottom of knickknacks and other decorative pieces to avoid scratching tabletops. Some felt and a little hot glue, and you're all set. Check it out Have you always wanted to try a Sleep Number Bed or another brand or type? You may not be in a hurry to buy one, wondering if you will like it. What if you could check one out for a night first, without the hassle or tear down, set up, shipping... Look around and inquire if a local hotel (or one you'll be visiting while on vacation) offers the type of bed you're interested in. This is a great way to check it out without a lot of drama. If you can sleep on it for more than one night before deciding whether or not you want to purchase one, that's even better. Back to the Drawing Board Instead of moving furniture around, draw a diagram first. This tip has been offered before but bears repeating. It is also a great idea for organizing closets, pantries, attics, basements, utility rooms, sheds, or garages. Figure out where you want stuff before ever moving a thing! It's much easier to erase if you're plan won't work than it is to keep moving stuff around.
