flowers Are you ready for more tips? I've been dusting off my magazine archive to pick out the best household tips I've seen in print as well as some of my own that have worked well for me over the years. Isn't it amazing how little helpful hints can make a big difference in a task?

If you missed the first collection of tips, you can click here: Helpful Household Tips.

Saving Cut Flowers

When your bouquet of flowers it looking pretty sad, you can still make use of whatever remaining blooms are left. Snip off any flowers that still look good. Then place them in pretty shallow containers filled with warm water (you can add some aspirin, too), such as small glass or ceramic bowls, dip trays, soap dishes, etc. Then place the flowers around your home for splashes of color and scent. I particularly like placing them in the bathrooms.

Hanging Pictures

If you have plaster wall, then you know how damaging ti can be to hang pictures from it. Plaster tends to crumble, making your nail hole too large and your pictures come crashing down. If you have something light to hang that is under five pounds, you might be able to get away with using adhesive backed hooks that can be purchased almost anywhere that home goods are sold. For any pictures that are heavier than five pounds, you'll need a wall anchor to secure your pictures.

Leather care

Don't keep your leather clothing in a plastic bag because it can easily mildew. Instead hang it in your closet on a wooden hanger. Make sure it isn't crowded with other clothes and can get good air circulation. Folding leather may crease it. If you do find creases in your leather, you can gently get them out with one of these two methods: Hang the garment in the bathroom when you shower to let steam do the trick; place a large cotton or linen cloth (napkin or handkerchief) over the spot and press it flat with a cool to slightly warm iron for just a few seconds.
