Home Robots: The Roomba, Cha Cha Cha

by Marjorie Dorfman | More from this Blogger

If you think the roomba is a mis-spelled dance step from the past, look again. Or should I say, vacuum again? Now, rugs can be cleaned with intelligence, provided carpet owners are using this vacuuming robot, which is now owned by more than 1.5 million satisfied people (Some can dance, some can't.)

Modern technology is now offering a solution for the daily grind (and dirt) we all face around our homes. Their unique intelligence system, which is called AWARE, makes all of this possible. Exactly what these initials stand for seems to be a state secret, but some things, such as the following, are clear. AWARE uses dozens of sensors to monitor the environment of this incredible machine, and adjusts Roomba's behavior up to 67 times per second. This ensures that Roomba cleans effectively, intelligently and safely.

So whether you can dance or not, you can certainly cheer up because now your floors can be clean not just for company and holidays, but all the time. The best part is that you can do other things while that is happening, even if all you want to do is stand or sit back and watch this amazing thing as it goes in to action.

Modern technology has come so much further than robots with bad hair days and the cybernauts of my youth. And the icing on the cake is that they are not featured in some horror movie but rather in my own living room (which at times, I must admit, does resemble a horror movie).

Do YOU have any experience with this new machine?

Tune in again soon for some information on the brother of the Roomba, the Scooba, the new floor-mop robot extraordinaire
