Hotel Chic Decorating Ideasby Andrea Hermitt | More from this Blogger 19 Aug 2009 10:39 PM Staying in a hotel for two weeks can give you alot of decorating ideas. Hotel rooms have necessary appointments without unnecessary clutter. They look good and feel comfortable and just make you feel good. Why not bring some of the decorating ideas back home? Here are some things you can do to accomplish this task. Create a sense of balance in the room. Don't weigh down one side of the room and neglect the other. Place the bed on one side of the room and a dresser or armoire opposite it. Also balance chairs, tables, or benches in the by making sure that if you put an item on one side of the room, you put put something of a similar size on the opposite side of the room. Use full layered draperies that blocks light at night and also can be fully opened to let in natural light during the day. Keep your color scheme neutral. This does not mean the room should be devoid of pattern, but colors should be in lighter earth tone shades. Use plenty of lighting. Wall mounted light fixtures will allow you to illuminate the room without cluttering your space. You need a main light, a light by the bed, and lights at any work areas in the room. Keep the room clean and uncluttered. Hotel rooms are so appealing because they are never cluttered or dirty. The room is vacuumed daily. Counters and surfaces are cleaned. Miscellaneous items are out of sight. Add flower arrangements. Treat yourself to floral arrangements in the bedroom, especially if you want a five star effect. Flowers add a final decorating touch that is reminiscent of hotel chic. If you liked this you should also read my blogs at the home blog, the parents blog, and the frugal blog.
