How Did We Ever Live Without a DVR?

I know TiVo's been around for a while now, but Wayne and I aren't always the most up-to-date techy users. In fact, we're usually well behind most trends.

It was only three years ago we got cell phones and only because he had to for his job. And it was only this past Christmas I got a digital camera.

So it's really no surprise we waited as long as we did to finally upgrade to DVR service with Comcast. Which we did this past week.

Actually, it was two days ago to be exact and we can't figure out why we waited so long to get it. (Actually, I know why we waited so long. We're both fairly frugal by nature. Even though we want to enjoy all the latest and greatest technology has to offer, we're not always willing to pay for it.)

But once we get it, like now with this DVR, we can't understand why we waited so long or how we ever lived without it.

It truly is amazing. I used to tape some shows we don't like to miss, but sometimes I forget to set the timer, or just plain forget to set it up period. (I have to specifically hit the timer button on our VCR after programming the recording or it won't record.)

But with this DVR? Just find the series you want to tape from the menu and press the record button. You can then choose to record new episodes or repeats plus new episodes. That's it. It's all set up. Then you can go back and select it to watch anytime you want.

But it gets even better. Have two shows on during conflicting time slots? No problem. Unlike with the VCR, the DVR allows us to tape both shows -at the same time!

Amazing. I am so stunned. I understood the basic concept of how it all worked, but I never fully appreciated it until after having used it. Which we've done plenty of in only two days.

Everyone who had one kept telling us we should get one, and thank goodness we finally listened. It's definitely worth the extra money.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Courtney. I agree that it is amazing and convenient.

The kids usually have ours so full that I don't get to record much, LOL... :o)

My husband is well on his way to being like your kids and hogging all the recording time, Sherry! Even WITH the tape 2 shows at a time feature. He wants to record EVERYTHING! Which isn't leaving me many options... Oh well. At least he's happy!

It won't take long to fill it up. It's like a new toy when you first get it, LOL.
