faucet Just because you are watching your budget, doesn't mean that you have to live with an old and outdated bathroom. There are some great improvements that you can make that will cost less than $200 and in some cases even less than $100. So what are you waiting for?

On the lowest end, and we are talking free, use a dremel tool to polish tarnished, dirty and even pitted doorknobs, facets and other hardware. The dremel rotates a brush at a high speed that will literally scrape off years of dingy build up.

Replace your old outdated medicine cabinet with a modern and streamlined mirror. You can get a great mirror for an inexpensive price, and this one change will make a big impact. Do you miss having the built in lights above the medicine cabinet? Spend just a little more for two wall sconces to flank the mirror or one fixture to hang above it.

Consider replacing those old faucets (if you don't want to dremel). You can instantly update the look of your sink and vanity by this step. There is a variety of styles in all different price ranges, so you can get rid of that chunky faucet for something more modern and stylish.

A little paint goes a long way. if you do nothing else, try a coat of paint. Experiment with a dark or bold color such as burgundy or rust to warm things up and get away from the standard pink, yellow or blue.

If your floor is in bad repair, your can update it quickly with vinyl stick on flooring. There are lots of great styles, and you can decide on the quality and the budget depending on whether you want your update to last for a few years or a few decades. A regular bathroom can be done for less than $100, and a powder room for half of that or less.
