Ideas for Kid's and Teen's Rooms

Have you seen those great sheets that are made from t-shirt material? They are really soft and easy to care for, making them perfect for children's rooms. They come in solids and prints and they are very affordable.
Two things that work well with t-shirt fabric or jersey sheets are denim and fleece. Pillows made from denim and gray fleece like what sweatshirts and sweatpants are made from would be good additions to a casual, comfy child's room. What could be better for a teen's room?
You can purchase denim and fleece by the yard, but you can also use leftover denim from cut offs and old sweats that are still in good shape. Pieced together denim is hot right now in clothing and would fit in perfectly in a teen's room. Small children will also like this look, especially if you use old jeans and make accessories that include the back pockets. Pillows with pockets are adorable, and appliqués on denim are also a cute look. Picture frames and can also be covered in denim and patchwork denim would make a cute lampshade.
A pair of sweatpants can easily be made into two bolster pillows. Cut off the leg sections, stuff them with fiberfill, and sew the ends closed. To make pillows from sweatshirts, cut squares from the main section. Any scraps can be used for stuffing pillows. You can also cut the seaming from the leg sections of a pair of jeans and use this part for trim on a fleece pillow to help tie things together.
You can certainly use other colors of fleece as well. Fleece in pink or another pastel color mixed in with gray would be cute in a little girl's room. Black, white, and gray will create a nice graphic look, or you can punch it up with some red.
