kitchen When looking at a kitchen renovation or remodel, the choices are endless. From countertops to flooring to appliances to walls to back splashes, tile, wood, paint, stainless steel, ack. You get the picture. Each little bit that goes into the kitchen has its own set of choices, and then you have to make sure that all of these choices can work together.

One thing that can really help when you are planning out your kitchen is to have a clear idea of the design style that you prefer. This doesn't mean that you are doomed to have a cookie cutter kitchen, but it gives you a good place to start, and it narrows down your choices. As you get more involved with your design, you can add little touches here and there that are all about you.

Taking a look at different design styles will help you at least determine what you want and what you don't want in your kitchen. Many people go about looking at colors first, such as colors or stains for the cabinets, the color of the granite for the countertops, etc. But colors can do different things in different kitchens, depending on the other elements. A red and white kitchen could be done in a Retro style or an Asian style, for example.

I'll be taking a look at some of the different styles for kitchens, including some of the more hot and trendy looks. And by the way, you can always take something trendy and tone it down or balance it out with more of a classic or traditional look to give it more staying power. Or, you can just go for it and have a cutting edge kitchen that will wow everyone. Here are different design styles that you can consider for your kitchen.

  1. Arts and Crafts
  2. Asian
  3. Contemporary
  4. Country
  5. Eclectic
  6. English Country
  7. French Country
  8. Old World
  9. Mediterranean
  10. Modern
  11. Rustic
  12. Southwestern
  13. Traditional
  14. Transitional
  15. Tropical
  16. Tuscan
  17. Vintage
