It is always nice to unexpectedly discover a “freebie”. Suddenly, an item that you wouldn’t have looked twice at if you had to pay for it looks a whole lot more tempting. Many companies offer “freebies” as a way of getting customers to take notice of their products, (and perhaps buy some of it later). Here are a bunch of random “freebies” for you to go get this week. Disney will send you a FREE Cruise-Planning DVD. To get it, you need to fill in the form on their website. You can opt-in to receiving email from Disney about updates, … Continue reading

Got Snow? You Could Start a Snow Removal Business

In many places, a change of seasons can bring a change in business opportunities. For example, here in Vermont, winter means snow and usually plenty of it. Of course I must add that as I say this, the remnants of the second snowstorm of the year are melting so fast that you can almost see it happening before your eyes. The snowman that I built with my son yesterday is now just a little lump. The first snow of the year was in late October, and while it made quite a mess of things south of here, less than an … Continue reading

Tony Snow Loses Battle with Cancer

The insidious disease that has affected nearly all of us in some way, shape or form has claimed yet another life. This time it’s Tony Snow. A 53-year-old husband and father of three children, who rose to fame on national TV as a Fox News anchor and then as President Bush’s press secretary. According to reports, Snow died of colon cancer early this morning. The tall and lanky Kentucky native served as the first host of the television news program “Fox News Sunday” from 1996 to 2003. He later left that job to replace Scott McClellan as press secretary in … Continue reading

Snow Job

I have to hand it to former White House press secretary Tony Snow, besides being smart, insightful and a wonderful communicator, he is also refreshingly honest. Which is saying a lot when you are talking about people in Washington. The broadcast journalist turned White House employee has decided to go back to TV and not because he is vain and loves seeing himself on the small screen (though I suppose that could be part of the reason). Rather, the former CNN star says he needs the money. So Snow has re-joined CNN as a conservative commentator. I love it. Snow’s … Continue reading

March in the Snow

We got about six inches of snow Tuesday, and the forecast is now predicting 8-9 inches for tonight. There have been several different weather advisories, and I’d venture to say the kids will be sent home from school early. After having the last two days off for snow, the school decided to give it a try today. Conditions aren’t bad at the moment, but if this storm hits earlier than expected, they’ll be on their way home. It looks a little threatening, so I’ll be ready to go at a moment’s notice. I have lived here in the Ozarks for … Continue reading

The Snowman Conspiracy (2)

What happens when a blogger starts noticing the snowmen. Is she right or just crazy? This is part two of The Snowman Conspiracy. Those are so easy to collect aren’t they? My collection first started with a Christmas gift from our in-laws. It is the cutest door sign that is personalized with our name. It features three snow people, two adults and a child, a representation of our family at the time. We still cherish it and display it, even though our family has grown from three members to five. After that, we just had to have some stuffed snow … Continue reading
