Musical Bedrooms

Instead of musical chairs, we will be playing musical bedrooms at my house. Well, it won't be quite like the game, because in the end, everyone will end up with a place to sleep. They won't each have a room of their own, but they'll each have a bed and some space to call their own.

My oldest child turned 18 this spring and decided rules just weren't all that, so it was time to move on. I waited a bit before making any changes, but she's not coming home. She starts college in less than a month and is clearly enjoying her summer vacation.

Moving on before I cry, the point is that we now need to reorganize space. The two older girls shared a room and the two younger ones shared the smaller room. It seems like we just made that move, and now it's time for another.

We decided that the second oldest, now the oldest one still at home, should have her own room. The only problem is she is still in the larger room she shared with big sis. So, we will be moving her into the smaller room, to have all to herself, and moving the younger girls into the bigger room.

Now, finding the time to do the moving and the money to do some redecorating are going to be my biggest challenges. I'm also not sure about the design plan of each space. Should the bunk beds remain bunk beds, or should I take them apart giving each younger daughter a separate bed and a separate space? The latter seems like a good idea, although with bunk beds, there would be more space overall.

Decisions, decisions.

I'll have to go back through Mary Ann's series on Dressing a Daughter's Room for some tips, ideas, and perhaps some inspiration. While this is normally the type of project I live for, I could use some inspiration this time around.

Any experiences, thoughts, or ideas you'd like to share? I'd love to hear from you.
