New Uses for Bar Glasses

Even if you do not drink, or don't drink very often, you can get some use out of your bar glasses and other bar items. They make great accessories and serving pieces. Most are elegantly styled and lend an air of sophistication to your table.

Maybe you don't do martinis. Instead of re-gifting that martini set, use the glasses for serving other items. Fill one with black olives and one with green olives, and place them on the buffet, instead of preparing a typical relish tray. They also make great dishes for candy, nuts, or after dinner mints.

Different bar glasses also work great for creating pretty parfaits. A tulip glass, like the type used for daiquiris or even a white wine glass will work perfectly. High ball glasses can be used for serving non-alcoholic beverages from sodas to juices or for serving desserts, but they also work nicely as votive holders. Wine glasses make attractive candleholders as well. Set a new candle inside or melt wax directly into glasses. These options are great ways to use mix and match pieces and to create charming vignettes.

If you have a decanter, you can fill it with colored water, or use it as a unique vase for a single stem. Brandy snifters, both large and small are perfect for floating candles or floating flowers. Tall, narrow, cylindrical glasses, often referred to as Collin's glasses (for a drink called a Tom Collins), are great for serving smoothies, punch, non-alcoholic exotic drinks, and Shirley Temples. They also work great as bud vases.

Another idea is to use interesting bar glasses in the bathroom to hold bath beads or to display pretty soaps. With a little imagination, you can find all kinds of great ways to use bar glasses and other bar items as great accessories throughout your home.
