Every week, the Insurance Blog Week in Review brings you a quick and easy way to “ketchup” on the blogs that have been posted here in the past seven days. There could be anywhere between twelve and fourteen blogs that appear. Which ones did you miss? Jan Brewer Wants to Take Away Health Insurance Benefits Arizona Governor Jan Brewer wants the Supreme Court to allow her to terminate health insurance coverage for the same-sex partners of state workers. Cleaning Mildew on a Budget

Popular commercial mildew cleaners don’t come cheap. What’s more, when you are battling a severe mildew problem you will often need more than just one container of cleaner to get the job done. If you are strapped for cash, but need to get rid of mildew in a hurry, then consider looking around your home for pantry products that can help you eliminate nasty mildew stains on the spot. Some of the most effective homemade mildew removers cost only pennies to make. For example, if mildew has infiltrated your washing machine then add a cup of Borax to your next … Continue reading

Mildew Be Gone

Are you sick and tired of dealing with mold and mildew? If you have a poorly ventilated bathroom that has become the prefect breeding ground for the smelly living organisms, then you might feel as though you are fighting a losing battle. Fortunately, there is hope for a clean lavatory that doesn’t require detoxing every week. The following mold and mildew removers have served me well in the past: Remedex Mold and Mildew Remover: I used this when I was living in a tiny one bedroom apartment in Hawaii where mold and mildew came to party. Voluntary Recall Announced for Over the Counter Medications

McNeil Consumer Healthcare — makers of Tylenol and many other familiar over the counter medications — announced a voluntary recall of several products on January 15th. The recall affects certain Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph’s products available for purchase in North, South, and Central America, the United Arab Emirates, and Fiji. Why the voluntary recall? Some consumers reported a strange moldy, musty, or mildewy odor associated with certain products. A small number of consumers reported nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, or vomiting after using a product with the unusual smell. The symptoms were temporary and not life … Continue reading

Home Week in Review: November 5 – 11

There are many different “rituals” families engage in throughout different seasons and occasions. For some of us, that first gust of chill wind in the fall brings on the nesting instinct. Mary Ann shared this with us in her Baking Day and Reaching Out to Nature articles. Don’t forget to check out the Home Blog archives for past autumn articles as well to see how other writers feed the need to nest. Or, check out past tips for preparing for the holidays and colder weather. I had to share my favorite ways to welcome cool weather too, and I’d like … Continue reading

No More Mildew

Want a way to keep mold and mildew off of your shower curtain? Here is a simple way that will help you avoid those harsh chemical cleaners, well cleaning at all, when it comes to your shower curtain. Isn’t it funny how little things around the house bother one person more than they do the other? Any type of mold on the shower curtain is one of those things for me. I can’t stand it when there is any form of mold or mildew. For my husband, it isn’t as big a deal. I suppose he figures that it is … Continue reading

When Mildew Gets Ugly

I hate harsh chemicals because they make me break out in rashes. Even the smell sometimes can make me want to itch. So whenever there is a job that requires a heavy duty cleaner, I usually ask someone else to do it. Like my husband. Like the shower curtain. Despite my repeated asking nicely (okay nagging), however, it was no surprise to me this morning that the curtain still required a good cleaning. In fact, the mildew had rallied itself together to spell out “ha ha” on the plastic liner. So I went to do what I always do when … Continue reading

Home Based Business Idea – Exterior Painter

It’s that time of year again, a time when people are beginning to spend more time outside of their houses. When weather gets warmer and people start spending time out in their yards, they may notice that the outsides of their houses do not look as nice as they did just a few years ago. A fresh coat of paint or stain can go a long way towards making a house look great, but many homeowners do not have the time or the expertise that they would need to paint their homes themselves. If you can paint houses, then the warmer … Continue reading

End of Month Spending Check

Tomorrow is the last day of the month, and it is time to do an end-of-month spending check. In January, I have been focusing on groceries and food, keeping track of our spending in those areas and saving as much as I can. Writing down what I spend on each trip to the grocery store has helped. While I still don’t have a lot of coupon use, I’m paying more attention to the sales and not buying things that we don’t need, purchasing more fruit and less snacks for example. This has made a difference. I’ve also been more conscious … Continue reading
