Organizing Your Clothes Closet

In general, closets are not my specialty around here. In fact, almost all of them are cluttered and disorganized…or they are at leastheading in that direction. But for whatever reason, the one closet I have always managed to keep together is my clothes closet. You might think I have some great ideas or you might think I’m a little over the top…you be the judge. First, it helps to have a large closet. If you don’t, then utilize your space well. Since the weather is cooler, it’s probably time to pack away the summer clothes. This will leave more room … Continue reading

Organizing the Kids Clothes to Save

When the drawers won’t close in the kids rooms, then I know that the clothes have gotten out of hand. I try hard to keep their clothes organized and to a minimum as much as possible, because in the long run, it really does save money. It is just during this transition time in between seasons, when the mornings are cool and the days are warm that the drawers and closets get disorganized. The changing season and back to school wreck havoc. Between needing new things that fit the size and the weather, and the busyness that comes before settling … Continue reading

It’s actually a great time to organize your cabinets. Focus on one or two each weekend. But while you are doing that, you should also start keeping an inventory of what you have and what you need. For instance, if you … Continue reading

Getting Ready for Back to School: Organizing School Supplies

I have to admit that as my children get older, the school supplies get easier…at least in the school system that they attend. They require fewer school supplies in high school, which makes my life easier and my pocketbook more full. However, I have always used a method of getting ready for school that not only saves me money but keeps us well stocked for at least a good portion of the school year. But it all begins in July. I regret not thinking about this last month but school was honestly the last thing on my mind. So perhaps … Continue reading

Organizing Your Closets

Some areas of the home are easier to ignore when it comes to a mess. Take for instance closets. You know the old saying, “Out of sight, out of mind.” I recently decided to tackle the most disorganized and messy closet in my home, the linen closet. Here are the steps I took which I plan to do with my other closets. First, empty the entire closet. It is better to start with a clean slate. Otherwise you end up just moving things around. I made it a rule for myself that as I emptied things out, I wouldn’t decide … Continue reading

Organizing Baby’s Closet

One of my most dreaded tasks as a parent is dealing with clothes. I hate washing, folding, and putting them away, but I also hate the inevitable rotation that is required for baby clothes. They outgrow stuff so quickly, that it seems I am constantly organizing, and re-organizing baby clothes. What makes this task even more daunting is when you feel compelled to hang on to baby’s clothes in the event you might have another baby of the same sex. It all just exhausts me. I recently had to clean out my baby’s very tiny closet. We don’t have a … Continue reading

Summer Organizing

I get the concept behind spring cleaning, but in my world, summer is primetime for purging. I’ve been trying to reorganize and deep clean my scrapbooking space for months; however, I simply haven’t had the time to undertake such a monumental task. Which is not to say that I have this humungous crafting space to create all my scrapbook masterpieces. Rather, I’m just a slob. If you’ve been dreading the idea of organizing your scrapbooking area, there’s no time like the present to get it done. Let summer’s extra long days inspire you to open your windows, dump out the … Continue reading

Organizing The Coat Closet

Yesterday I tackled my coat closet. It was time, and although the whole time I was dreaming of turning it into a craft closet, I stuck it out and now it’s nicely organized. The first thing I did was take everything out of it. I was amazed at what I found. Some of the things could be returned to their rightful places and some things went into a pile for the yard sale. I had no idea there were so many pairs of gloves in that closet. Yet, in the winter I can never find a pair. After the closet … Continue reading

Organizing Grad Layouts

Most graduation ceremonies are over and the members of the Class of 2012 have moved on to the next chapters of their lives. However, before your grad celebrates yet another major milestone, it might be a good idea to put the finishing touches on his or her commencement-themed scrapbook. Now is the time to collect mementos you want to feature in the album, or at least figure out alternative ways to include special items, such as a class ring. Memorabilia like class rings or graduation gowns are difficult to add to page designs; however, you can still make them part … Continue reading
