Sometimes, your rainmaking activities produce a deluge of work. That is a beautiful thing – if you have a plan in place for handling a sudden increase in interest in your products or services. Here are a few tips for making sure that you do not get … Continue reading

Planning for Your Produce Needs

It’s the season that gardeners love and loathe. We loathe it because in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the season of dark, cold, wet, and snow. Gardeners have to stay indoors, out of the garden. However, it is also the season of planning and organizing and buying and swapping seeds, and that is a good thing. If you plan to eat out of your garden this year, are you ready? I’m not entirely ready, but over the last few years I’ve developed a better understanding of what our family needs from our garden. Granted, we can’t eat entirely from our … Continue reading

What Do Stay At Home Parents Need From a Home-Based Business Opportunity?

Not all home-based business opportunities are created equal, and since every person’s needs are unique, there is no single home-based business opportunity that can claim that it is a perfect fit for everyone. St. John’s Wort

St. John’s wort is one herbal remedy that has been (and continues to be) under a lot of scrutiny by modern science. Also known as hypericum and goat weed, use of St. John’s wort for treating mental and mood disorders dates back to ancient Greece. The plant may get its name from historical and religious figure John the Baptist, because the yellow flowers bloom around the time of the feast of St. John the Baptist in late June. The herb was traditionally used to treat nerve pain and a host of mental disorders. It was also used as a balm … Continue reading

Gaining the Students’ Attention

One of the hardest things about being a teacher in today’s society is gaining the attention of the students. Teachers are under a lot of pressure to produce exciting, entertaining, and fun lessons. The difficulty of this task varies depending on the age group being taught and the specific skill that is to be addressed. I find it easier to create fun lessons for lower grade students rather than for upper grade students. I also find subjects such as Science and Social Studies to be more engaging. Using props as openers can help get students interested in the activity from … Continue reading

Quirky Travel Destinations

Summer may still be a few months away (judging by the foot of snow on my front lawn, it could be several months away), but that’s not stopping some tweens from planning for the end of the school year… especially the ones who are avid “American Idol” fans. Forget about Bible Camp, YMCA Camp, and Space Camp, this year kids ages 12 to 15 who can’t get enough of the phenomenally popular singing contest, are begging their parents to send them to Massachusetts for “American Idol” camp. Since the TV show is only open to 16-to-28-year-olds, series creator 19 Entertainment … Continue reading
