Don’t Miss These Sales! – Weekend of December 17, 2011

This holiday season season seems to have more sales packed into it than I remember there being in previous years. Black Friday came early, and then stretched out all week long. There have already been sales on Christmas decorations, that didn’t used to happen until after Christmas. Here are some sales that are going on this weekend. Target has a sale that started on Friday, December 16, 2011, and that will continue through Saturday, December 17, 2011 at noon. There are “thousands” of deals, and you can get up to 40% off on things included in the sale. If you … Continue reading

More Family-Friendly Spring Break Vacation Hot Spots

There’s nothing like including your kids in your bucket list. I do it all the time. I have a list of places I want to travel to and explore before I die and I’d like to take my daughter with me to as many of them as possible. With spring break just around the corner, now is the time for us to start crossing items off the list, including visiting some of the world’s most family-friendly travel destinations: Washington, D.C.: Ideally, I would love to visit the tourist hot spot during the cherry blossom festival, but with so much to … Continue reading

Scrapping Snow Events

“Nothing good comes from snow.” I’m pretty sure I’ve uttered that phrase on more than one… thousand occasions since moving to Wisconsin 20 plus years ago. I grew up in Hawaii and now I’m forced to reside where snow comes to die in massive amounts from October until June. Go figure. I’m not a snow hater. Actually, I find the white stuff quite beautiful… in pictures… and in scrapbooks. In fact, I recently viewed a gorgeous winter-themed scrapbook featuring dozens of exquisite snow photos, which were embellished with equally eye-popping snow-themed stickers, stamps and rub-ons. Included in the book were … Continue reading

New Disney Music Website

Fans of Disney’s teen musical acts, often teenagers themselves, now have yet another destination at which to spend time on the Disney Go website: Disney Music. Given that Disney’s been in the pop music business for years now, releases from their animated movie soundtracks notwithstanding, the only surprise is that the company hadn’t launched a music site this sophisticated until now. Disney Music brings the Mouse Company’s extensive catalog all into one place, but the focus is clearly on the Disney Channel’s recent teen sensations. Currently on the main page of the site visitors are greeted with Selena Gomez’s brand … Continue reading

Preparing for a Powerful Snowstorm 2

The snow is falling, and we are all gearing up for a snowstorm that may leave us without power and without an easy way to get out of our driveway. If you missed the first post, click here: Preparing for a Powerful Snowstorm. We do have a generator (which is also gassed up and ready to go), but we can’t attach it to everything. If we will be without power for more than a few hours, we will attach it to the heat, the well pump and water treatment system, the upright freezer and the refrigerator. This will have our … Continue reading

Snow End in Site

Overnight and in the early morning, we got hit with a few fluffy gentle inches of snow. I decided to get the shovel and brush out and take care of the long driveway, the car and the steps, cleaning them up. Our house is situated downhill, and it is a minivan, which means that even with a little snow, it isn’t getting up the hill of the driveway. So, even though I am fighting a fever, a sore throat, aches and chills, I thought it was in our best interest to get it cleared. I did a combination technique of … Continue reading

Spend Less on Home Heating 2

Chilly mornings and nights are starting to occur here. I had vowed to not turn on the heat for at least another week, but when I returned from taking the kids to the park, I found that my husband had given in. He was working from home and doesn’t have my stubborness for saving on home heating costs. It is really the time to start getting prepared for winter and saving as much heat as possible. In the previous blog, I talked about two methods for saving on home heating. Now, here are some more. Service your furnace or heating … Continue reading
