Summer Home

by Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger

Do you own a summer home? Maybe you dream of owning a great place where you can escape the daily grind and relax and enjoy the summer months. While it may seem like an idea that's beyond your means, it isn't impossible.

There are many different options from timeshares to cozy cabins. There are also undeveloped lakefront properties that will only increase in value once improved. Start by looking for an affordable property with low taxes, and you may be on your way to realizing your dream.

You may also find cottages and mobile homes that are very affordable, which are located in beautiful areas. Cedar Lake, Indiana is turning into an area where people now live year long, but there are still some lake cottages available for rent or for sale that would make wonderful vacation homes.

In Arkansas, you can find a variety of affordable properties with beautiful surroundings that boast low property taxes. Prime areas with lake access are of course generally a bit more pricey, but there are many properties with ponds and smaller lakes or woods perfect for hunting or camping.

Check out the many real estate sites online to see what is available in an area that interests you. You might be surprised to learn that owning a second home is not as far out of reach as you thought. Purchasing a second home may be a great investment, not only in your family, but also in your future.

If you find that you cannot afford a second home, work to make your existing home into more of a summertime retreat. Change the look and feel of your home, yard, and garden to welcome summer and create soothing, relaxing spaces. Outdoor living spaces now provide many families with a "getaway" just a few steps from the home.
