Perceptions of Homeowners and Tenants

People’s perception of homeowners and renters can be a funny thing. A common perception is that because the tenant doesn’t own the property they are not going to look after it the same way as if it was their own. In some cases that is true. We have been on the receiving end of that when we rented our home for nine months, while we were live-in houseparents at a children’s home. The people who rented for the first six months were ideal tenants and looked after the place as if it was their own. In fact they did want … Continue reading

The Cons of Purchasing a Pre-Fabricated Home

Earlier, I shared some pros about purchasing a trailer home. Such a blog isn’t really complete without a companion piece to balance it out, so let’s take a look at some of the cons. 1. Getting the Loan. When you buy a home, the house itself becomes part of the collateral. But a trailer home isn’t considered real estate, so you will need to either have another source of collateral, or a nice-sized down payment when you talk to the loan officer. 2. Quality. Besides overall look and ease of use, one of the most important factors I consider when purchasing a scrapbook album is refill options. In a previous blog, I detailed my recent purchase of two post-bound leather albums. Both books came with 20 pages, though the albums can accommodate about double that depending on the thickness of your completed layouts. The trick is finding the right refills. Beginner scrapbookers should note that most albums come with inserts that provide information on which style of refill pages can be used with individual books. If you don’t see a list of refill options, … Continue reading
