The Home Owner's New Year's Resolutions

If you own a home (or even just rent one) you probably have some little things that you would like to get done this coming year. As owners of an older "needs some work" home, I can relate to anyone who might have a resolution or two that involves their home. Have you made any? If you needs some ideas, check out mine!

I resolve to go greener. This year we have made some great strides toward going green, from turning the heat down low and wearing layers of clothing, to recycling, to shutting offer power to phantom appliances and electronics. This year, our plans include replacing some of our bulbs with LEDs, installing an outdoor clothesline to dry clothing, and putting in a vegetable garden for home grown organic produce.

I resolve to not feel badly about not keeping up with the Joneses. We moved into an older, somewhat neglected, home in an area with newer and much larger homes. We sometimes feel the pressure to get more home projects done than is feasible in our time frame and budget. Trying to get too many things done too quickly isn't any fun and could lead to debt.

I resolve to keep our home related documents organized and within easy access. Whether it is the refrigerator manual that can't be found when we want to check the ice maker, or figuring out the video switch on the VCR, having better organization will help our home run smoothly and same precious time and energy. And all of those new warranty cards will get filled out and sent in!

I resolve to clear the clutter. While we do regular clutter clean outs, the stuff has a sneaky way of creeping in when you aren't looking. By resolving not to have anything we don't need or love, we'll be able to really enjoy our space.

What are your resolutions for your home?

As a part of a Jones I can honestly say its not that hard to keep up w/ us! lol Your resolutions are very similar to mine. De-cluttering, organize, organize, organize, and finish some of those half finished jobs that got started around our home!! Laura

Nice to hear from you! Perhaps keeping up with you would be more fun than those other generic "Joneses."

Uh oh! It sounds like I have my work cut out for me. Let's me guess, your Christmas decorations are all put away, right?

Christmas decorations are down, of course. I don't like starting the new year w/ all the decorations up. lol

Ah, I generally wait until the epiphany. At least that is my excuse. Heck, I'm still listening to Christmas music.
