Thoughtful Gifts for Holiday Guestsby Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger 06 Dec 2007 06:45 AM When you're entertaining guests over the holidays, it's nice to have a little something to give them to help remember the occasion. The Gift that Keeps on Giving You know everybody wants the recipe for your famous cranberry orange muffins or your special oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Make a nice big batch of your specialty to serve, but also wrap up individual servings. As your guests leave, give each person a treat, complete with the recipe. They can make it at home for years to come. Printing up the recipe on pretty paper is a nice touch or use Christmas cards that are blank inside and write the recipe down along with your personal message. Photo Keepsakes Take lots of photos during holiday get-togethers. Digital cameras not only take great pictures but they also allow you to upload photos to your computer or put them on discs. You can mail discs to guests following the holiday or just print the selections you like. Select a photo of each guest, frame it, and mail it to that special someone. Unexpected Guests It happens. You find yourself with more guests than gifts to pass out. Beware of this awkward situation and always stash something (already wrapped and with gift tag attached) so you can quickly add the extra person's name without anyone being the wiser. Since you don't know if an extra guest might be male, female, young or old, keep a few small items on hand, ready to go. A card game is a good idea, since it can be given to most anyone. A box of specialty candy will work for a number of people. Pick up a paperback copy of the best selling novel and a children's book or coloring book and crayons. Overnight Guests Pick up an inexpensive pair of house slippers for a guest. Since it may be difficult to determine the size you'll need, consider slipper socks. They're one size fits all. Many people forget to pack their slippers when traveling (or don't want to bring along their old beat up ones), but if they're staying over, they probably won't have shoes on the entire time and their feet might get cold. I do prepare gifts like toothpaste/toothbrushes and attach a note listing down the alternative uses (e.g. for cleaning or removing stains) in case the items are not the ones regularly used by the receiver. Sherry Holetzky (11404) 07 Dec 2007 08:13 AMThanks! Your idea is interesting too. Something I had not thought of...
