What Do You Like about the Holidays?

by Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger

Many people are happy when the holidays arrive, because they get the chance to spend time with family and friends. With the busy lives we lead today, it isn't too often that we have a chance to gather everyone together in one place for celebrations.

This may be one of your favorite parts of the holiday season as well, as it is mine, but what else do you like about this time of year?

I love that faith is celebrated regularly throughout the holiday season. Even those who rarely make mention of it tend to be more involved in their faith during this time of year.

I also like the fact that I can take the time to make wonderful food from scratch and bake special treats for my family. I enjoy it when my whole family works together to make the holidays special. It feels good to work side by side with each other, talking, laughing, and sharing. I love how excited the kids get eagerly awaiting each special date with anticipation.

I enjoy picking out just the right gifts for each person and savoring the looks on their faces as they open their presents.

There is also the fact that I make myself set aside time to catch up with family and friends who can't attend, by phone. I always mean to call them, but doing so far too often gets pushed to the end of my list. On holidays, I make it a priority.

Cleaning and decorating are also big on my list, and I love the way my home looks, feels, and smells during the holidays. Don't you love scented candles and oils? The cinnamon ones and those that smell like home baked goods are some of my favorites.

The holidays are almost here! What do you like best?
