Personal Touches

One of the most touching layouts in my wedding scrapbook is a double page design filled with original poems written by family and friends. Granted, several of my family members are professional writers and a good chunk of my friends have careers in journalism, but you don’t have to be schooled in the world of prose in order to add a personal touch to a scrapbook page. Heck, you don’t even have to be proficient in rhyming in order to pen a poem that will make an impact on someone’s life. One of the easiest ways to spice up an … Continue reading

If you failed to create the perfect Mother’s Day scrapbook to give as a gift on Sunday, now is your chance to make amends. The Color of Comfort, Part II

Picking up where we left off yesterday in our discussion of comfort colors, I have a few more to share. Does your favorite color resemble your favorite comfort food? Yellow Yellow is another hot color, depending on the shade. It makes me think of sunshine and lemony fresh scents, such as lemon zest, a wedge of fresh lemon in a tall, cold glass of iced tea, or lemon pie. There are many variations of yellow from pale to bright to more muted golden tones. Golden saffron is a nice, rich color, much like its expensive namesake. Purple Eggplant Parmesan is … Continue reading

Elegant Fourth of July Decorations

Who says you can’t be festive and still create an elegant look? There’s no reason that an outdoor gathering can’t be chic and attractive. Even though some bright red, white, and blue decorations may not seem to lend themselves to elegance, it’s all in the way you put things together. You can try country chic with nostalgic Americana accents. Another idea is to simply choose deeper colors. Deep blues and darker reds create a richer backdrop. Then, instead of fun and funky decorations that you see at most Fourth of July picnics and parties, you can try something a little … Continue reading

Cute Ideas for Kid’s Rooms

Quite often, I come across really cute stuff that just inspires ideas for home decorating. Some ideas are inspired by crafts, clothing, and more, while others are basically new ways to implement other decorating ideas. Here are some examples that can be used for cute accents in kid’s rooms: Fresh as a Daisy I saw a cute craft project the other day, one to make a spring cap for a little girl.
