Window Decorations to Welcome Trick-or-Treaters

Trick-or-treaters are often uneasy about going up to houses for Halloween. They don't know which homes they are welcome at and which homes they are not. To eliminate that uncertainty for them, you can decorate your windows in a way to let them know that you have candy ready to give out.

You will need a pack of black poster board. One for each half window. You will want to do all windows on the first floor of the front of your home. You will need a pair of scissors and some tape.

1. Choose images that you want to use for your window decorations. Anything that you would put on a pumpkin you can put on your pumpkin. That can be a scary face, a haunted looking tree, a spider, or even the word "Welcome" in a creepy looking font.

2. Draw the images on your poster board with white chalk or white pencil and cut out the inside of the images leaving a stencil type design. The image should look similar to a pumpkin design.

3. Tape the images over your window making sure that the windows are blacked out except for the image. Use more black construction paper if you need to.

4. Turn on the lights in the rooms, or place a light in front of each window to project your Halloween images to everyone on the street.

If that sounds too ambitious, you can cut out spiders and cats from black construction paper and tape them to your windows.

To be very obvious, you can use Christmas lights to make pumpkin designs on your windows and set them to blink.
